We knew what we had late in the summer of 2017. Maybe not to this historic degree, but we knew we had our quarterback of the future as he was forced to sit and watch other rookies receive the glory in his rookie year. Privately, we told others he was the only player we would not trade on the roster. We said he was our #1 QB at the Re-Draft. It seemed to defy logic, but soon it would defy belief.

Hopeful, we rolled the dice on young Patrick Mahomes on Opening Day in a critical division game against prime rival Tallahassee. Down 37-18 taking the field, Mahomes debuted with four touchdowns, and the Dream Season was underway.

He then threw six touchdown passes twice--equaling a record set in 1986 by Mr. Florida Shark, Dan Marino. The first time, he led the Sharks to break the franchise scoring record by a point in an 88-7 win over Richmond in Week 2.

Registering the second highest points per game total in the history of the SFL, the 2018 Sharks finished 10-3 and then stormed through the playoffs--culminating in a 52-30 win over Washington in SFL Bowl XXXIII to belong to the ages.

It had been so long waiting for a franchise signalcaller to succeed Marino, and now we have the Ferrari. As we said over and over in 2018, we are truly blessed.
